Madison First United Methodist Church is located in the historical district of Madison, Georgia. Working with the local historical board and city council, the church received approval to build a new facility on the north side of campus in an adjacent lot. The architecture of the new building is similar and complements the historic church but does not match in detail. This was required by the historical board. The new facility includes a hall for fellowship and contemporary worship, a cafe, and children’s classrooms. The existing fellowship hall was converted to a lobby/narthex for the sanctuary. The administration area was relocated into the old children’s building and the historical sanctuary was renovated to its original appearance.
