St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church commissioned Smith Boland Architects to renovate their existing facilities. Established in 1903 and located in Atlanta’s West End neighborhood, the parish is one of the three original catholic parishes in the city of Atlanta. To improve this century old facility, all three levels needed renovation. The basis of design was to preserve the traditional architecture of the church while providing modern technologies and amenities that would preserve the building while bringing it up to the standards of today. The renovations consist of new finishes, furniture and lighting in the worship space and the parish hall, a communicating staircase to connect the two levels, restroom renovations to provide code compliant facilities, and exterior site accessibility improvements.
